What a setup is

A setup is the set of adjustments that makes a guitar comfortable to play and keep in tune. It covers how high the strings sit above the frets (the action), the slight bow in the neck, and the tuning along the length of the neck (the intonation).

Signs your guitar needs one

• The strings are hard to press down.
• Notes buzz when you play them.
• It sounds in tune open but goes out as you play further up the neck.
• The strings look dull or feel rough.

With me it is £40, and that includes the strings. The price is the same for acoustic and electric guitars.

How often should a guitar be restrung?

It depends on how much you play. Strings that sound dull, will not stay in tune or feel rough under your fingers are due for changing.
